Start with understanding. Build what the business needs next.

Sidecar helps owners understand what is holding their company back, determine what matters most, and turn that strategy into action.

Every relationship starts with a conversation. From there, we follow a practical process designed to create clarity before committing time, energy, and resources to implementation.

One Front Door

Every Sidecar relationship begins through Consulting.

Companies come to us with different challenges. Some need an objective look at the entire business. Others already know where they need help.

Our process gives us enough flexibility to meet each company where it is while maintaining the same basic progression:

Discovery → Analysis & Strategy → Implementation

The scope may change, but the purpose does not: understand the business, identify the right priorities, and build a practical path forward.

The Sidecar Process

01. Discovery

Discovery is the pre-engagement stage.

We begin with a conversation about the company, the owner’s goals, the challenges they are facing, and what they believe may need to change.

No formal work has begun at this point. The objective is to understand the situation, assess mutual fit, and determine whether there is a useful role for Sidecar.

If there is a fit, we define the appropriate scope for Analysis & Strategy.

02. Analysis & Strategy

Analysis & Strategy is the first formal engagement with Sidecar and typically takes approximately 60 to 90 days.

Depending on the company’s needs, we may examine the business as a whole or concentrate more deeply on a specific function, challenge, or opportunity.

We look across the parts of the business that shape performance, including:

  • Strategy and leadership

  • Revenue and customer acquisition

  • Operations and repeatable systems

  • Team structure and accountability

  • Financial performance and reporting

  • Technology, automation, and AI

  • Owner involvement and organizational capacity

The goal is not simply to identify problems. It is to understand how the business works, where friction exists, and which opportunities deserve attention first.

The Strategy Plan

Analysis leads to a practical Strategy Plan.

The plan connects the owner’s goals to a prioritized sequence of initiatives. It identifies what should happen, why it matters, when it should happen, and what capabilities will be required.

A Strategy Plan may include:

  • The company’s most important priorities

  • Specific projects and recommended sequencing

  • Targets and milestones tied to growth

  • Operational, staffing, and technology needs

  • Clear ownership and accountability

  • Immediate actions and longer-term initiatives

The Strategy Plan belongs to the client. It can guide the company’s internal team, future partners, or continued work with Sidecar.

03. Implementation

Some companies have the internal capacity to implement the Strategy Plan themselves. Others benefit from continued support.

When Sidecar’s involvement would be valuable, we typically recommend beginning with a focused 90-day Consulting engagement centered on the highest-priority work.

This gives our team time to work alongside the company, create meaningful early progress, and demonstrate how strategy becomes execution.

Depending on the work, Sidecar may:

  • Advise the owner or leadership team

  • Lead specific initiatives

  • Build systems, workflows, and reporting

  • Implement or connect technology

  • Provide fractional operating leadership

  • Work directly with employees and outside partners

  • Step into day-to-day responsibilities for a season

At the end of the initial 90 days, the work may conclude or continue through another focused Consulting engagement. For a small number of companies, the relationship may eventually evolve into an Integrated Growth Partnership when deeper involvement and shared accountability make sense.

The Work Follows the Strategy

We do not begin with a predetermined solution.

The right work depends on what we learn about the company.

Sidecar’s experience building and operating businesses allows us to work across strategy, operations, technology, revenue, organizational structure, and leadership. We are not limited to advising on a single department or installing a single system.

We focus on the combination of decisions, capabilities, and execution required to move the business forward.

Build Capability, Not Dependence

Our goal is to leave the company stronger.

When needed, members of our team may step into day-to-day responsibilities for a season. We help build the function, establish the systems, and create momentum, then hire, train, or develop the people who will ultimately own the work.

Sidecar may remain involved where continued partnership creates value, but the company should become more capable because of our involvement.
